In mid-December 1944 Hitler’s army blitzkriegs through the Ardennes forest into Belgium creating the terrible wintertime offensive known as the “Battle of the Bulge.”  Corporal Nathan “Deacon” Greer and close friend Gordon Gunderson find themselves held captive with over one hundred other Allied Soldiers in a snow-covered field near Malmedy, Belgium.  As panic and confusion ensues the German captors open fire on the unarmed soldiers.  Deacon, Gunderson and a handful of other soldiers escape in to the nearby woods.  Without weapons or food they take on the unforgiving winter as they try to find their way back to Allied occupied territory.

A funny and intimate documentary set in a Los Angeles retirement home for “free thinking elderly.”  The story centers on two residents,  Irja (81) and Lucille (95), close friends who, like the other residents, cope with aging.  The film follows their friendship as they continue to live their lives as radicals by attending marches and engaging in political debate.

Geoduck

3 FEET UNDER - DIGGING DEEP FOR THE GEODUCK

The Geoduck ("gooey duck") clam sports a phallic, three-foot-long neck and a life span of 160-plus years. It is jokingly referred to as the Washington State Bird. This film explores how the geoduck has garnered a quirky yet devoted following in the Pacific Northwest.  We follow "Jack," a long-time Seattleite who was raised in a kosher Brooklyn home, as he prepares for his annual geoduck dig.

Power Trip

POWER TRIP

AES Corp., the massive American "global power company," has purchased the privatized electricity distribution company in Tbilisi, capital of the former Soviet Republic of Georgia. AES manager Piers Lewis must now train the formerly communist populace that, in this new world, customers pay for their electricity. The Georgians meanwhile, from pensioners to the Energy Minister, devise ever more clever ways to get it free.  Amidst hot tempers and high drama, Lewis balances his love for the Georgian people with the hardships his company creates for them, as they struggle to build a nation from the rubble of Soviet collapse.

On the evening of October 12, 1976 - at the height of Argentina’s “Dirty War” - an Irish-born worker-priest, Pat Rice, was bundled at gunpoint into the trunk of an unmarked police car in the shanty town of Buenos Aires.  Rice’s nightmare of torture, brutality and psychological terror at the hands of Argentina’s most notorious death squad was just beginning.  This is the story of Rice’s captivity and the triumphant story of his relationship with the woman he was jailed with, Fatima Cabrera.
